Today I had my practical driving test. I’ll get to the result in a moment.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Yesterday was my final day to prepare, and I knew that at that point I’d practiced all I really could, I’d been driving for months, and the only thing that could get in my way was nerves<\/em>. So I pulled out every Oprah-Chopra, hooky-pooky strategy I had up my sleeve to try and get my head in the right place.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

(Three nights ago I had a terrible sleep, woke up at 2 a.m., and couldn’t fall asleep again because my heart was racing and my mind obsessing about the test.)<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

One of the things I did yesterday was sit down to draw, because that’s the one place where I can create my own world. I used that to exorcise my “stuff” about driving:<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

And, finally, this morning I knew I had one last thing to do: declare myself ready. Whatever happened in the test, it was time to give myself credit for finishing my training. As a symbol of this, I made myself my own driving licence to carry in my pocket:<\/div>\n<\/p>\n
