{"id":14487,"date":"2022-10-09T06:50:00","date_gmt":"2022-10-09T10:50:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hame.ink\/hameblog\/2022\/10\/09\/vegan-thanksgiving-dinner\/"},"modified":"2025-09-12T07:50:57","modified_gmt":"2025-09-12T10:50:57","slug":"vegan-thanksgiving-dinner","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hame.ink\/blether\/2022\/10\/09\/vegan-thanksgiving-dinner\/","title":{"rendered":"Vegan Thanksgiving Dinner"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<p>Yesterday I made a Scottish-themed Thanksgiving dinner for Craig and Mom, and &#8212; thankfully! &#8212; they both really enjoyed it.<\/p>\n\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>We had:<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>a cocktail called an Algonquin, made by Craig<\/li>\n<li>root vegetable soup from the farmers&#8217; market, with oatcakes<\/li>\n<li>haggis with dried cranberries and a whisky cream sauce<\/li>\n<li>tatties (potato croquettes)<\/li>\n<li>turnip (I haven&#8217;t figured out how to make turnip any fancier without making it weird and wrecking it, so that was just with olive oil and pepper)<\/li>\n<li>steamed kale with garlic and not-butter<\/li>\n<li>for dessert, <em>cranachan<\/em> &#8212; Silk brand whipped cream with layers of raspberries muddled with maple syrup and oats sprinkled on top<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Several of these recipes came from a zine called <em><a href=\"https:\/\/microcosmpublishing.com\/catalog\/zines\/14482\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Well Tidy Scran<\/a><\/em> from Microcosm Publishing.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m a lousy photographer, full-stop, but it gets worse when there&#8217;s food involved, but here&#8217;s the visual record anyway:<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><figure class=\"wp-image-2723\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/hame.ink\/blether\/wp-content\/uploads\/posts\/1840\/PST00011.jpg.webp\" alt=\"\"><\/figure><\/figure>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><figure class=\"wp-image-2724\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/hame.ink\/blether\/wp-content\/uploads\/posts\/1840\/IMG_20221008_170907_056.jpg.webp\" alt=\"\"><\/figure><\/figure>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><figure class=\"wp-image-2726\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/hame.ink\/blether\/wp-content\/uploads\/posts\/1840\/PST00012-1.jpg.webp\" alt=\"\"><\/figure><\/figure>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Thanksgiving for the win!<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>I am <em>not<\/em> doing another dinner for everybody again on Monday!<\/p>\n<p><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday I made a Scottish-themed Thanksgiving dinner for Craig and Mom, and &#8212; thankfully! &#8212; they both really enjoyed it.
